About Our Council

The Knights of Columbus Masconomo Council 1232 was founded on May 19, 1907 in Manchester-by-the-Sea, part of Cape Ann in Massachusetts. A group of devout Catholic parishioners were inspired by Blessed Michael McGivney to form a Knights Council so that they could band together to do good works.

Today, the Council is affiliated with Visitation Parish which includes Sacred Heart in Manchester-by-the-Sea and St. John the Baptist in Essex. We enjoy the spiritual guidance and collaboration of Father Paul Flammia.

Providing monetary support to charitable organizations
Volunteering time, such as for the Beverly Community Supper at First Baptist Church
Collecting food for Open Door Food Pantry in Gloucester and Ipswich
Collecting both adult and children coats and jackets annually in November to distribute
to those people needing to stay warm in the winter months
Providing scholarships to high school seniors through the proceeds of the Father Jack
Gentleman Memorial scholarship raffle in the Spring
Realizing proceeds from the sale of a garden shed built by our members, and
then donating to the Knights of Columbus Charities Christian Refugee Relief Fund
Supporting disaster reilef efforts, such as the recent devasting floods in Texas
Fostering the Catholic faith for children through a doantion to CAMPS (Christ as My
Personal Savior) and purchasing Bibles for Cornfirmation classes

The Masconomo Council 1232 is proud and honored to have earned the Star Council award from the Supreme Council of the Knights of Columbus for the past six years. Without the dedication of our members, and without the guidance from our current and past officers, this award would not have been possible.
